Oyo APC Guber Candidate, Alli, Denies Link To Adelabu’s Sister’s Abduction, Condemns ‘Malicious’ Report

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, has strongly denied reports linking him to the abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, describing the allegations as false, malicious and politically motivated.

In a statement issued by his Media Office, Senator Alli dismissed a social media publication that allegedly sought to connect him with the kidnapping of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her twin sons.

The statement described the report as irresponsible, defamatory and completely lacking in credibility, insisting that there was no basis for associating the senator with the criminal incident.

According to the statement, Senator Alli, a serving senator, respected legal practitioner and Ibadan High Chief, has built a reputation for public service, leadership and commitment to peace over several decades, making attempts to drag his name into criminal allegations both absurd and illogical.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” the statement said.

The media office further maintained that attempts to link campaign materials or stickers bearing the senator’s name to criminal activity exposed what it described as a desperate effort by political detractors to tarnish the image of a widely accepted leader whose popularity continues to grow across Oyo State.

It noted that even the report in question acknowledged that no security agency had established any connection between Senator Alli and the alleged crime.

The statement expressed concern over what it termed a deliberate attempt by “faceless propagandists” to weaponise unverified claims in order to mislead the public and create unnecessary political tension.

Senator Alli also condemned kidnapping and all forms of criminality, reiterating his support for initiatives aimed at strengthening security and safeguarding lives and property across Oyo State and Nigeria.

The statement urged members of the public to disregard the publication and refrain from spreading false information capable of undermining ongoing security investigations.

It further called on security agencies to investigate the source of the allegations and bring those responsible for disseminating fake news and engaging in political blackmail to justice.

The media office stated that Senator Alli remains focused on his legislative responsibilities, his commitment to the people of Oyo State, and his vision of building a safer, more prosperous and united state.
