Six Feared Dead As Warri–Itakpe Train Derails, NRC Confirms Incident
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed an incident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS), while reports from sources indicate that at least six persons may have lost their lives and several others sustained injuries.
The NRC, in a statement, confirmed that the incident occurred on Monday, noting that emergency response teams have been deployed to the scene.
“The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) confirms that an incident involving the Warri–Itakpe Train Service (WITS) occurred today,” the corporation said.

Meanwhile, sources reported that six persons were feared dead, with several others injured. Rescue teams were said to be on ground evacuating victims and coordinating emergency response efforts.
The corporation said further details would be provided after preliminary assessments and ongoing rescue operations.
The cause of the incident has not yet been established as investigations continue.
