FUPRE Bans Students’ Vehicular Movement, Post-Examination Celebrations On Campus

The Management of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) has announced a ban on students’ vehicular movement on campus during examinations, as well as all forms of post-examination celebrations within the University campus and its environs.

The directive, approved by the Vice-Chancellor, is aimed at maintaining peace, order, and security within the University community.

According to the University, the decision followed growing concerns over the fanfare and euphoria that usually accompany the end of examinations, often manifested through parties, rallies, processions, and similar gatherings, which have become reckless, indecent, and capable of disrupting academic activities and threatening campus security.

Under the new directive, students are prohibited from driving vehicles into the University campus throughout the examination period. In addition, all forms of post-examination celebrations, including parties, rallies, parades, processions, convoys, and similar gatherings, are strictly prohibited within the University campus and its environs.

The Management explained that the measures became necessary following security reports indicating that suspected cult groups have been exploiting post-examination celebrations to stage open parades, display regalia, organize vehicle convoys, play loud music, and engage in provocative chants.

It noted that such activities have, in the past, posed serious threats to lives, property, and the overall security of the University community.

Students have therefore been directed to comply fully with the directive, warning that anyone found driving into the campus without authorization or participating in any prohibited post-examination celebration will face disciplinary action in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations.

The Management further urged students to conduct themselves responsibly and uphold the institution’s core values and motto, “Excellence and Relevance.”

All FUPRE students were advised to take note and comply with the directive.
