President Tinubu Has Put Nigeria On The Path Of Renewal — Adjogbe
A former Executive Director (Projects), of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Dr. Samuel Adjogbe, FNSE has commended the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a bold and courageous approach to confronting Nigeria’s longstanding economic and developmental challenges, saying the President’s first three years in office have laid important foundations for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria.
Adjogbe said the Tinubu’s administration deserves commendation for taking difficult decisions that previous governments had either avoided or postponed, particularly the removal of the petrol subsidy and reforms in the foreign-exchange market. According to him, although these measures have created significant short-term difficulties for Nigerians, they were necessary steps towards correcting deep structural weaknesses in the economy.
He said the administration’s extensive infrastructure programme is another major area of achievement, pointing to ongoing investments in roads, railways, housing and other strategic projects across the country. He noted that infrastructure development goes beyond physical construction, as good roads, reliable transportation and modern public facilities are essential to stimulating investment, creating employment and reducing the cost of doing business.
Adjogbe also commended the Federal Government’s renewed attention to the oil and gas sector, particularly efforts to increase domestic refining capacity and attract investment. He said Nigeria must move away from the era of exporting crude oil and importing refined petroleum products, stressing that local refining and gas development would create jobs, conserve foreign exchange and retain greater value within the Nigerian economy.
On education, Adjogbe described the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as an important intervention capable of expanding access to tertiary education for young Nigerians from less privileged backgrounds. He stressed that Nigeria’s greatest resource is its human capital and that investing in young people through education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship is essential to the country’s long-term development agenda.
While acknowledging the hardship caused by inflation and the rising cost of living, Adjogbe urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to ensure that the benefits of its economic reforms translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Nigerians. He said the ultimate measure of economic success must be the ability of families to afford food, businesses to survive and expand, young people to secure meaningful employment and citizens to enjoy improved living standards.
He further called on state and local governments to utilise the increased revenues accruing to them responsibly by investing in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and employment-generating initiatives. He stressed that national development requires effective collaboration among the Federal, States, Local governments, the private sector and citizens. Only one group cannot effectively bring about the required growth and development.
Adjogbe also commended the administration’s efforts to strengthen national security, while urging sustained investment in intelligence, modern equipment and personnel to confront terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and other security challenges. According to him, no meaningful economic development can take place where citizens and businesses do not feel secured.
He expressed optimism that if the Tinubu administration sustains its reform agenda while giving greater attention to reducing hardship, creating jobs, improving electricity supply, strengthening food security and increasing the purchasing power of Nigerians, the country could emerge from the current period of adjustment with a stronger and more resilient economy.
Adjogbe said President Tinubu’s three years in office should therefore be viewed as a period of difficult but necessary restructuring, adding that the ultimate judgment of the administration will depend on how effectively the foundations being laid today translate into shared prosperity for Nigerians.
He urged Nigerians to place national interest above partisan differences and support policies that can move the country forward, while continuing to hold government accountable for results. According to him, Nigeria’s transformation cannot be achieved by government alone but requires collective commitment, responsible leadership and the active participation of citizens.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult and tough decisions. The task now is to ensure that the sacrifices Nigerians have made produce visible and lasting improvements in their lives. The success of the Renewed Hope Agenda must ultimately be measured by the prosperity, security and dignity it delivers to the Nigerian people, Adjogbe concludes.
