DELSU Warns Graduating Students Over Excessive Celebrations -Approves 4 Semester Rustication For Offenders

The Management of Delta State University, Abraka has warned students of the institution, particularly final-year students to desist from all acts of misconduct usually carried out by final-year students on completion of their examination.

This information was contained in a recent bulletin issued by the Information and Public Relations Division of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office with the caption: ‘Prohibition of Barbaric Acts Embarked upon by Final Year Students at the Second Semester Examinations’.

It read: “This is to remind the University community, particularly final-year students in the on-going 2016/2017 Second semester examinations that Management, in line with Senate decision, has banned all acts of misconduct usually embarked upon by Final-year (graduating) students at the end of second semester examinations.”
The University authority said the acts banned are: Rowdy celebration on completion of examinations on campus or in the community hosting the campuses; pouring of water or other substances on graduating students with or without their consent and participation in reckless driving such as blocking of access roads with their cars, spraying of money along pathways and highway on or outside campuses and hanging on moving cars during matriculation/convocation or end of examinations. Offenders are to bag four (4) semester rustications.
