MIFFED by the alleged surreptitious plan to redeploy Divisional Police Officer (DPO) ‘B Division’, CSP Anietie Eyoh, residents of Okere-Urhobo community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State have appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to halt the move.
In a statement signed by the chairman of Warri Urban Security Network (WUSN), Chief Nnandi Okonkwo and secretary, Mr James Ogbetuo, the residents requested the police high command to extend the stay of CSP Eyoh.
They said his stay would enable him complete some of the laudable projects he initiated in the division since assumption of office about a year ago.
The body, made up of landlords, professional bodies, traders, business men and women as well as artisans who are mainly non-Okere-Urhobo indigenes, but resident in the community, noted that due to the efficiency and professionalism brought into policing by the DPO, the community had enjoyed so much peace and safe environment like never before.
The group added that this was the first time they would be reposing so much confidence in men of the police force.
“The rumors making the round about the transfer of the DPO, ‘B Division’, CSP Anietie Eyoh, has prompted us, the non-indigenes of Okere-Urhobo community in the heart of Warri, to appeal to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to look into the matter and reverse the decision based on the fact that the residents of the community now sleep with two eyes closed, especially at nights as the criminal elements that used to terrorise us have relocated from the area since the DPO resumed duty over a year ago”.
“On assumption of office, the DPO left no one in doubt that he was committed to fighting crimes and other social vices in the community and that he did with so much passion, zeal and commitment to the job. And as you can see today, some areas that had hitherto been tagged ‘no
go areas’ due to the activities of criminals who operated there even in day time are now very safe for residents any time of the day especially at nights”, the group stated,
