Uvwie Kingdom Football Competition: Orhiokpor Beats Ugboroke 3-2 To Emerge Winner
Orhiokpor Community in Uvwie Kingdom of Delta has won the 10th edition of the annual football competition organised alongside the coronation anniversary of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, JP OON.
The final of the competition which held today at P.T.I.Sports complex, saw Orhiokpor defeating Ugboroke with a 3-2 goal margin in an action-filled game, which left the audience entertained.
Cash prizes, medals and trophies were presented to the two teams, as the third placed team from Udumekere was honored as well.
While Emma Okoro won the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award, Collins Ogoh, Moses Friday and Alaka Football Club won the ‘Highest Goal Scorer’, ‘Best Goalkeeper’ and ‘Fair Play Team’ awards respectively.
The newly sworn-in local government chairman, Hon. Ramson Onoyake, was also present to witness the final.
A total of 12 teams, representing different communities in the kingdom participated at the preliminary stages of the competition.

Meanwhile, the novelty football match played between chiefs of Uvwie kingdom and chiefs of Okpe Kingdom, ended in favour of Uvwie Kingdom with a 3-0 victory.
According to a former Vice Chairman of Coaches Association in Delta State, Christopher Awin, “the novelty match was organised to solidify the bond that existed between the two kingdoms since they are neighbours.”
Present at the ceremony was the Uvwie monarch, joined by notable chiefs from the kingdom, and leaders from Okpe Kingdom.
