I Will Establish Small Scale Industries In Urhobo If Elected Senator – Oboro
Delta Central Senatorial hopeful, Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, has stated that if voted, come 2019, she will attract and establish small scale industries in the three federal constituencies and eight local government areas in Delta Central Senatorial district of Delta State.
Oboro, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Federal Constituency who made this known during a recent campaign to some council chairmen, councilors and PDP executives in the senatorial district, said establishment of small scale industries will go a long way in tackling problems of unemployment in Urhobo.
She explained that small-scale industries which involves production of matches, tooth picks, cellophane, pen, pencils, books, tissue papers, sugar, wine, eraser, plastics and others requires less capital to establish.
“I will use part of my constituency project allowances to establish small scale industries in the three federal constituencies (Ethiope East, Ethiope West Federal Constituency, Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Federal Constituency and Ughelli North, Ughelli South, Udu Federal Constituency) in Delta central and later to the eight Local Government areas”, she added.
According to her, “small scale industries have potentials to create employment opportunities on a massive scale, require less capital, contributes nearly 40 per cent to the industrial exports of the country, earn valuable foreign exchange for the country, distribute resources and wealth more equitably, uses locally available resources in a productive manner which would have otherwise gone waste, provide opportunities for entrepreneurs with limited capital and among others.”
Oboro, fondly called “Empowerment Mama” by her admirers stated that she is not going to the senate as a learner but as an experienced lawmaker having been in the House of Representatives for two terms.
She continued: “I will be a ranking senator if I get there and by His grace, I will be a member of the decision making caucus in the senate.”

While appealing to delegates across Delta Central Senatorial district to vote her, Oboro noted that the Peoples Democratic Party needs a popular and credible candidate with track records of achievements like her to enable electorates across party divides in Urhobo to vote for her in the general election.
