The President-General of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Chief Joe Omene, has called on Chief MosesTaiga to stop parading himself as the President General of UPU, saying he (Taiga) was never elected into any capacity to run the affairs of UPU.
Chief Omene who spoke yesterday when a governorship aspirant for 2019 elections under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, High Chief (Amb.) Daro Jimiro, paid him a courtsey visit at his country home at Mosogar in Delta State, added that “Urhobos dealing with Taiga in the name of UPU are like fatherless children going to borrow a father from Ijaw land.”
The guber aspirant in his speech, said that he understood the politics playing around the struggle for the spirit and soul of UPU, saying that he “would look into this disparaging issue if elected into office, come 2019.”
Chief Omene while offering prayers to Jimiro, admonished him to carry out his campaigns based on issues and not to attack individuals.
Omene continued: “Urhobo deserves more than what is currently given her as her share of the national cake.”
He therefore used the opportunity to call on President Muhammadu Buhari to rejig his cabinet by appointing at least an Urhobo man or woman as minister.
Speaking on the fighting between Udu people and the Ijaws, he called for cautious attention of the state government to handle the mindless killings of his people before it snowballs into full war which can become a major minus for this administration.
