Delta State Set To Launch Market Health Post Schemes In Senatorial Districts

Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency (DSPHCDA), has called for a proactive effort to maintain a healthy Delta State through market health post initiative.
The Chairman of Delta State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Isioma Okobah, made the call today when she paid an advocacy visit on the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. Uche Osadebe.
Dr Okobah said that the advocacy visit was to introduce the Local Government to the Market Health post initiative, an initiative to drive the Health for All Deltan (HeFAD) to the door steps of market traders.
According to her, the Market Health Post would further boost the health for all Deltans initiative saying the scheme would bring health care to market buyers and sellers.
Emphasizing on the numerous benefits the market health post would provide, the DSPHCDA Chairman said that services such as immunization, treatment of minor ailments, health education and other primary health care services would be rendered.
She added that the Agency was setting up three pilot schemes in each of the senatorial district in the state, disclosing that the Ogbeogonogo Modern market, Asaba would serve as the market health post for Delta North.
Dr Okobah also used the visit to request the support of the Chairman for a successful launch of the market health post scheme by providing convenient accommodation within the ogbeogonogo market, deployment of health personnel to man the market post and supply of medical equipments and consumables.
Responding, the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Hon. Uche Osadebe, assured the DSPHCDA Chairman and her team of the Councils support, saying that he was aware of the State Governments commitment to health care development.
Hon. Osadebe described the market health post scheme as another laudable step by the state government through the Delta State Primary Health Care Development agency in advancing health care to Deltans.
He also promised to do the needful in the local government area to ensure a successful market health post inauguration.
