UPU Youth Wing: Seek The Welfare Of Urhobo Nation, Be Selfless, Anidi Urges New Executive

–Says They Are Out To Correct The Errors Of Former Gov. James Ibori

An aspirant for the Delta State House of Assembly seat in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Anidi, has called on the new executive of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Youth Wing, to continually seek the welfare of Urhobo Nation and imbibe the virtue of selflessness in all their dealings.
Chief Anidi who spoke to journalists during the swearing-in ceremony of the new executive in Mosogar recently, stressed that “the Urhobos are going backwards with Moses Taiga, the self-acclaimed UPU President-General, who is not from Urhobo, saying that the youths can no longer take it and have decided to change the system.
He added: “I know that Urhobo Nation will move forward with the youths occupying the leadership of the youth wing of UPU now.”
Reacting to reports that the Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Mr. Ovie Agas, an Urhobo man that was slapped by Mr. Tony Okowa, the younger brother to the Governor, Anidi said: “if the incident truly occurred, such treatment is what they (the Urhobos) in the government of the day deserve from the present administration.”
“Can you see any Urhobo indigene making waves in this administration? In 2019, we are taking the power back,” he said.
He continued: “We are not saying that other tribes cannot govern Delta State, but let the majority decide who emerges as governor. Look at what is happening at the presidential level, the president is from the north and you cannot fight them because they have the majority.
“In 2019, we want to correct the error of former Governor James Ibori who called himself an Urhobo Governor.”
Responding to questions on his party’s chances in 2019 in the state, considering the power tussle that has led to two factional executive groups in APC, he argued that there was no faction.
His words: “APC is not factionalised. A consent judgement was given recently and the case postponed to October. Remember the party’s primaries will hold between August and September.
“We are all APC, we are brothers and we are Urhobos before being APC members. APC will come and go. Emerhor is part of us and we will work together.”
