Delta APC: Erue, Ogodo Factions To Be Fused — Emerhor

A leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has said one of the decisions reached at the reconciliatory meeting of the party convened by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is that all parallel party executives would become one.

The party in the state has two factions with each headed by Mr. Jones Erue and Chief Cyril Ogodo.

Vanguard reports that, Emerhor while confirming the peace efforts of Vice President Osinbajo, said himself, chairman of his faction (Ogodo), four aspirants on their side, who bought the governorship forms, namely Prof Pat Utomi, Chief Victor Ochei, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, and Chief Osiobe Okotie, met  separately with the vice president.

He explained that the efforts of Osinbajo were geared towards uniting the party in the state, adding: “The discussions centred on the recognition that the issues of candidates have been overtaken by time.”

“The attempt, therefore, is to find ways to compensate the side that may lose out on issues of candidates with appointments to engender some sense of a win-win.

“Prof Utomi is a parallel governorship candidate and Ochei has a court case asking for cancellations of the Ogboru primary. It is important that they to key into the direction of the discussions for us to make progress.

“Also to unite the party, the existing party factions are to be fused through harmonisation, while the campaign councils for the presidential and state elections are to be constituted in such a way as to accommodate persons from both sides.

“I believe the discussions are going well and a joint position will be released soon by or from the office of the convener, the vice president.”
