The president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, also the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on Deltans to vote for candidates of the APC contesting for different elective offices in the state during the forthcoming elections.
President Buhari, who spoke yesterday at the Warri township stadium during the presidential flagoff of his campaign in the state, said: “Vote for APC candidates from top to bottom,” adding that the development of the Niger Delta will be taken even more seriously.”
He added: “Our interest is to serve Nigeria. What we campaigned with in 2015 is still relevant.”
Continuing, he noted that security plays a key role in the development of any nation and that his administration is committed to improving the security situation in the country.
Furthermore, he noted that the APC government is poised to improve the economy, saying that his administration has targeted the agricultural sector and industries to achieve this.
The president also promised to deal with those that have fraudulently enriched themselves with the country’s resources when they were trusted with them in his anti-corruption fight.
Why promising not to abuse the trust reposed in him by Nigerians, he called on deltans “to reflect very seriously where the nation was in 2015 when they came in, where they are now and what they have been able to achieve with the resources available to them.”
Earlier, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, said that under Buhari’s administration, peace was restored to the Niger Delta and oil production resumed and moved from eight hundred thousand to over two million barrels per day.
He continued: “The first Federal University of Petroleum Resources is now working well and established, the Maritime University, Okenrokoko, put together under this administration is now functioning, the continuous payment of militants stipends under the amnesty programme is working, the completion of the Warri-Itakpe rail line and the ongoing dredging of the Niger Delta, Warri Port, saying that these were some of the achievements of the Buhari-led administration.
On his part, the party’s guber candidate in the state, Chief Great Ogboru, noted that the Buhari campaign slogan of ‘The Next Level’ meant ‘A New Delta’ for them in the state, while commending the president for his service to the country.
Ogboru described “the president as the conscience of the Generals in Nigeria.”
