Governor Okowa Empowers Tricycle/Motorcycle Riders In Ethiope East LGA

By Daniel Dafe
The Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has given out a total of five tricycles and ten motorcycles to members of the Delta State Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle Operators Association (COMTOA), Ethiope East Branch.
The Chairman of the association, Chief Sunday Emese, presented the motorcycles and tricycles to the beneficiaries in Abraka today.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM) during an exclusive chat, Chief Emese commended the governor over the gesture, adding that this was an empowerment by the Governor to members of the association.
According to him, the riders have been riding “balance and take” motorcycles and tricycles at exorbitant prices with some of them faced with maltreatment from the owners when they default.
He said: “The governor decided to give the riders a soft loan by providing the motorcycles and tricycles to them to pay back the purchase price in installments. He gave out five tricycles and ten motorcycles for the first batch and other riders will benefit when another batch is released within a period of six months interval to cover the area completely.
“The beneficiaries were selected from different places in the local government area to cover both the Abraka and Agbon axis in the council area.”
He congratulated Governor Okowa over his election victory, saying that the Governor has done well for the association and urged him to do more.
To the beneficiaries, he tasked them to make judicious use of this opportunity, while he called on the members of the association to be patient, adding that they will benefit when the other batches are released.
OM spoke with two of the beneficiaries, Comrade Erhejuwa Ezekiel and Comrade Achoja Roland.
While appreciating Dr. Okowa for the gesture, they disclosed that it was difficult for them to purchase a tricycle and motorcycle on their own, but with this gesture, they have been able to achieve that dream, adding that this will increase their income.
They urged all Deltans to support the Governor because of the good work he is doing and the positive plans for the state he is yet to unveil that are geared towards bringing about overall progress to the rich oil state of Delta.
