NAPPS: Sapele Chapter Chairperson Passes On, As Members Mourn
Members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Sapele Chapter, are in deep mourning over the demise of their Chairperson, Mrs. Stella Pessu Quebec.
According to sources, she died yesterday, April 25, 2019, at the Central Hospital, Benin City, after a brief illness.
A colleague to Late Quebec who does not want her name mentioned confirmed that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at Obule Hospital morgue in Sapele.
A press statement by the Delta State President of NAPPS and Executive Director, Classical International Schools, Warri, Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, read: “It is with shock that I received the news of the sudden death of our Sapele Chairperson,” adding that “she had been battling with an ailment for a while, but had always been very passionate about NAPPS and all that the association stands for.”
This, he said was the reason why she was nicknamed ‘Mama NAPPS’ by her colleagues.
He prayed for the repose of her soul and for strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss and pain.
Also reacting to the sad development, Dr. (Mrs.) Mercy Ogbe, State Deputy President and Executive Director, Victory School of Science and Creativity, Sapele, said she received the news with shock.
She continued: “Stella has been an active member even while she went through her health challenge. She was very up and doing in NAPPS.
“I was not expecting this news the way it came. About a month ago, she took part in a contest and she came out as the Welfare Director for the association at the state level. That shows that she was not expecting her demise so soon.
“It has happened, but we are Christians and cannot question God. We have taken it with a pinch of salt. It is painful that we are losing a very dear person. Sapele Chapter and NAPPS at the state and national level will miss her. I am also a long time friend and I certainly will miss her.
To NAPPS members, she said: “We know the situation is quite emotional, but like I said, we cannot question God. We have to put our pieces together and make sure that the legacies she left behind are not wasted.
“We must pick up courage and be bold to know that probably her work is over and God has called her home. We need to sit up and take up from where she stopped and not allow NAPPS to die.”
On his part, the son of the deceased, Benjamin, when contacted, could not respond to our questions because a family meeting was ongoing.
Until her death, she was the Executive Director, Gloryland International Schools, Sapele.
She was in her early 60s.
