Tears As Trailer Crushes Man To Death In Delta Community (Graphic Photos)

A twenty year old man identified as Mr. Godspower Chukwuka Igbomor, has been crushed to death by a trailer.

Returning from Auchi with a full load of granite enroute to Kwale, the incident occurred at about 6.50 am on Thursday, October 17, 2019, along Ogume/Kwale road by Nduku Primary School, Ogbole Ogume.

According to sources close to Oasis Magazine (OM), the trailer lost control and in the process crushed the victim beyond recognition with the Okada man conveying Godspower to Kwale sustaining minor injuries.

As soon as the incident occurred, the trailer driver disappeared for safety.

It was indeed an ugly scene, as sympathisers wept uncontrollably at the sight of the victim.

Most of the students couldn’t go to school and some market women who were preparing to go to Olie market, Ogume shelved the idea and decided to stay at home.

The vigilance group members who were already at their duty post along the road were invited to the scene. Their leader, Mr. Louis Okekonum aka OC Mopol quickly contacted the police at Abbi. Before the police could come, they decided to take guard at the scene to prevent outbreak of law.

When the police eventually came led by the Divisional Crime Officer, DCO the vigilante men assisted them in carrying the corpse into their vehicle.

Before then, a mild drama played out. The DCO tactically asked the leader of the vigilance group to give him his gun to guard himself at the accident scene as he was not with any service rifle. Mr. Okekonum obeyed but when they were about vacating the scene the DCO deliberately forgot to handover the gun to the vigilante man. When Mr. Okekonum reminded the DCO about his gun, he shouted him down that he was not supposed to carry gun as a bloody civilian and that the security check they mounted along Kwale/Ogume road was illegal with a promise to dislodge them shortly. When he was saying all these the people thought he was just cracking jokes but took him for every seriousness when he ordered the driver to kick their vehicle prompting the vigilance group and the villagers

to force the gun out of his firm grip. The people were lucky that there was no accidental discharge else there would have been more causalty. Before they left eventually, the DCO boasted that he was going to deal with the vigilance men.

It will be recalled that the DCO had served as DO to Ogume Police Post and throughout his tenure, herders had field’s day and he was not able to curtail criminality in the area. But since the vigilance group chested out to fight

crime, criminality has been reduced to the barest minimum and there has not been recorded cases of herders/farmers clash.

OM tried to reach the Divisional Police Officer, DPO for comment but to no avail as he was said to have gone for a meeting at Asaba.
