Federal Polytechnic Orogun: Agege Is Light Of Urhobo Nation— Rights Activist, Umukoro

The immediate past National Secretary, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youth Wing, Worldwide, Co-ordinator, Actualization of Human Rights, Delta Central and Chairman, SPY-In, Delta State, Comrade Kelly Efemena Umukoro, has commended the Senator representing Delta Central in the Red Chambers over the success of the bill in the Senate to site a federal polytechnic in Orogun, saying that this is a very laudable achievement.

Comrade Umukoro who spoke to journalists in Abraka, while congratulating Orogun people, added: “I have always told those that care to listen that Agege is the light of Urhobo Nation.

“Even while I was in detention at Ogwashi-Ukwu Prisons, when people asked me why I always support Ovie Omo-Agege, I told them he is a major asset in Urhobo Nation. I remember how I stepped in and settled a rift between a popular online news publisher, Comrade Fejiro Oliver and the Senator then. Today, they are good friends. I did all that because I foresaw what Urhobo stands to get with a Senator like Agege returned to the Red Chamber.”

He continued: “I want to say big congratulations to Urhobo Nation because we are getting it right with Agege there at the Senate.

“Imagine, now there will be a Federal Polytechnic in Orogun. I don’t want to go into the benefits of this polytechnic. But all that is happening now is a simple answer to those persons who asked me if we support Agege what will be the gain. These are the gains. This is the gain of having the Deputy Senate President from your ethnic group. I want to tell Senator Omo-Agege that his name has gotten into history and by the grace of God, God will make the completion of the polytechnic happen.

“You know what having federal presence in your community means; landlords will build, the economy of Orogun community will come alive, visitors will come, there will be employment and our people will now be close to a citadel of learning. The era of let me come and go to Auchi to attend a federal polytechnic will be gone.”

He said further: “I thank God that I am seeing all these happen in my time.”  Umukoro also thanked all members of the Senate for supporting the bill, saying that Urhobo nation will also reciprocate when the time comes to do so in terms of supporting the location of developmental projects in their area when the time comes.
