Christmas: Adakaji I Royal Foundation Holds 10th Nine Lessons & Carols Programme

The 10th edition of the post Adakaji’s festival of nine lessons and carols for charity was successfully held recently.
The event organised by the Adakaji I Royal Foundation in honour of HRM I.E. Ejohwomu, Ovie of Abraka Kingdom from 1994 to 2010, took place at Adakaji’s Palace, Oria-Abraka in Ethiope East local Government Area of Delta State.
The Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, HRM AVM Lucky Ochuko Ararile (rtd.), the Grand Patron of the Foundation and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
Also present at the ceremony was HRM Elizabeth Ejohwomu, Oniemo of Abraka Kingdom and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT).
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the occasion, Professor S.O. Okobiah, a member of the BoT of the Foundation, said the carol programme originated from the first year of Adakaji’s enthronement aimed at assisting some indigent persons in the society.
Some of the choirs that performed during the programme included Sacred Heart Choir, Abraka; Shepherd Care Choir, Eku and Holy Trinity Catholic Choir, Oria-Abraka.
Others were Our Lady of Visitation High School, Oria-Abraka and Christ Gospel Church Choir.
A brief sermon was presented by Rev. Fr. Philip Obewha where he encouraged peace, love and helping the needy.
Also, at the said event, prizes were presented to the best three performing students that participated in a competitive examination organised by the Education Committee formed by the Foundation for SS 1 students in the Local Government Area recently.
They are Aghwana Victory, Erhimu Group of Schools, Abraka; Pemu Liberty, Umiaghwa Grammar School, Oria and Efemene Destiny, Abraka Grammar School, Abraka who came out 1nd , 2nd and 3rd respectively.
A one year scholarship was presented to the said students.
