Ekabo Cautions Pentecostal Churches On Tampering With The Bible

The dynamic Catholic priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sapele, Very Rev (Dr.) Christopher Vwavware Ekabo, has cautioned members of the Pentecostal movement on the danger of removing from the Word of God.
It would be recalled that in 1827, the British and Foreign Bible Society decided to remove the deuterocanonical books of Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and I & II Maccabees from further publications and labeled them ‘apocryphal’, because they were the latest writings of the Old Testament and were written in Greek rather than Hebrew.
Reading from Revelation 22:18-19, Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:22, Proverbs 30:6,
Matthew 24:24 and Mark 7:13, Fr. Ekabo revealed how the Pentecostal churches intentionally removed six books from the Bible’s Old Testament.
Delivering a sermon titled: ‘The Power of a Divine Word’, the cleric emphasised that “the Catholic Church is not a one way traffic but a dynamic movement. It was based on this premise that Pope Francis approved every third Sunday of the ordinary season as the Sunday of the Word of God to celebrate the Divine Word of God.”
According to Ekabo, the problem with many Christians is that “they do not know the Word of God.”
On the significance of the Divine Word of God, Fr Ekabo charged the parishioners in St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sapele not to be the hearers of the Word of God only but also the doers of the Word of God, because “heaven and the earth will pass away, but the Word of God will not pass away.
Fr Ekabo further tasked Christians as a matter of compulsion to obtain a copy of the Holy Bible, study the Word of God, pray it, obey it, memorise it, utilise it and believe it, so that it will be a compass and guide to them.
He also admonished Christians to be sensitive to their environments by putting God’s love in action through their neighbours, saying, “you cannot help everybody, but you can help somebody.”
