Anti-Cult Group Made The Arrest Of Iroro’s Killers Possible— Commandant

The Anti-cult Commandant, Abraka Division, Oghenede Ufuoma, has said that they deserve accolades from the public for the role they played in unmasking the killers of Wisdom Iroro, a youth leader in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Speaking to Oasis Magazine (OM) during an exclusive chat, the soft-spoken leader of the anti-cult group, insisted that Abel Onoriode and Lucky Enajero who were amongst those fingered in the murder of Iroro, that also claimed to be members of the anti-cult formation in the university town, they were former members of the group.
He said: “Those persons are former anti-cult members that we laid off on the 8th of June, 2019 and there is a document to that effect.
“What happened was a shock to us. At first they said he was killed because of internet fraud and that he was a cultist. But with much investigation we discovered that he was killed by some known persons in the community. A report came to me from an anonymous caller and I went to the Abraka Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and dropped that information with him. Anti-cult members later carried out the arrest of the four persons who are in police custody now.
“According to information, they are eight in number. We have arrested four. Festus is the leader of Vikings. The eight suspects actually comprise of six Vikings cult members, one Aye member and an Ogboni member.
They shot Iroro since he knew them and wanted to prevent the matter from coming to light.”
Furthermore, he stressed that he can vouch for his members, adding that he also has warned any member involved in cult activities or any act of criminality to desist from such or leave the group immediately.
He added: “We were all given forms to fill and we signed an agreement that we are no more cult members. We are working under the police. Our mission is to make the community peaceful and for two years that we have existed, we have been able to prevent cult clashes. The community has been peaceful till this Iroro’s killing. We were not happy and that is why we took it on ourselves to unmask his killers. Iroro is also a member of the anti-cult.
“Over the confession by the suspects that claimed they are anti-cult members, I have told my members to ignore this and focus on their job.”
Speaking further, he called on the Delta State government to assist them in terms of mobility.
His words: “We are volunteers and not paid. We need the support of the government. We need at least two Hilux vehicles. Indigenes of this community must come out and support us.”
