The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on his emergence as Chairman of South South Governors’ Forum.
The Speaker said that he was not surprised on the emergence of the Governor as the Chairman of South South Governors’ Forum, describing it as a welcome development.
In a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Dennis Otu, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori said: “I was so elated when I heard the news of our dynamic Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa emerging as the Chairman of South South Governors’ Forum; this is a welcome development and never came to me as a surprise because our Governor is tested and trusted.”
Continuing, he said: “Our Governor has always delivered on given assignment hence the confidence his colleagues have on him and I know that the Governor will pilot the affairs of the South South Governors’ Forum successfully and to the admiration of all and sundry.”
While calling on the Governors of the South-South region to extend the same cooperation enjoyed by the former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson to the new Chairman of the Forum, the Speaker prayed that God give Governor Okowa the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the Forum.
“I wish to congratulate our amiable Governor, His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on his emergence as Chairman of South South Governors’ Forum and it is my fervent prayer that God gives him the wisdom to run the affairs of the Forum. I am using this medium to call on the South South Governors to give Governor Okowa the needed cooperation just as they did to Seriake Dickson so that collectively they can tackle challenges facing the oil-rich Niger Delta Region,” he said.
