Umukoro Congratulates CSP Hassan Isah On Award As Best DPO in Delta State
By Daniel Dafe
The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro has congratulated the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Abraka Division,CSP Hassan Isah over the presentation of an award to him by the National Association of Nigeria Students, Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC Delta Axis) as the best DPO in Delta State.
Umukoro, who spoke to Oasis Magazine (OM), during an exclusive chat, said that though he was not surprised, he was excited that a quintessential police officer like Isah was honoured by students in the state, “adding that as the number one Urhobo youth worldwide, he would do same if he has such opportunity.”
His words: “Security of lives and property is not an easy task. It is a task for every stakeholder to be part of. As a human rights activist, I am known as a critic of police officers, but today, I am pouring encomiums on a committed and outstanding police officer.
“It is just March, yet the leadership of the said student body in the state has decided to honor the DPO of Abraka Division with this noble and prestigious award as the best DPO in the state. I strongly believe this award was bestowed on CSP Jimoh Hassan as a means of encouraging him and also to tell him a very big thank you for been able to arrest the killers of a Comrade in Abraka, Delta State, late Comrade Iroro Ovie Wisdom.
“After the death of Iroro Ovie in Abraka, the DPO and the Anti-cult did not rest. They kept cracking their heads day and night to ensure they arrest these criminals without conscience and within 14 days of painstaking investigation they arrested the culprits who confessed to the crime. This singular act is a victory to the comrade community in Delta State and it has really boosted our confidence in the police. The comrade community is happy.
“If it were to be some police officers, they will not continue the investigation on the said case. But, because we have a crime buster and a super cop who does his job professionally with regards to fundamental human rights, he did not stop; he went on and on till he got the victory.”
He continued: “Normally, students have policephobia, but for them to come out and do this, it shows that that Issah is a unique cop.
“This award is a request to him to do more. He should continue to do what he knows how to do best which is protecting lives and property.
“I want t assure him that he has the support of Urhobo youths as he continues to make Abraka peaceful for us.”
Furthermore, he noted that Abraka is a university environment, but cult clashes and killings are not reported like in other places where there is no university.
This achievement, he said is because the DPO in the area and his men are proactive.
He said: “This award must not make him complacent, but spur him to do more.”
