JUST IN: Arewa Youths, Ohanaeze, 404 Groups Call For Removal Of COVID-19 Presidential Taskforce
A coalition of 406 ethnic youths including the Arewa Consultative Youth Forum, Ohanaeze Ndigbo youth worldwide and the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide has called on the federal government to overhaul the presidential taskforce on COVID-19.
In a statement signed by Alhaji Yerimma Shetimma, President, Arewa Consultative Youth Forum(ACYF) and Aare Oladotun Hassan, President, Yoruba Council of Ýouths Worldwide (YCYW), the coalition under the aegis of Nigerian Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders Forum, NENYLF, expressed disappointment at what it described as the “unimpressive and lackadaisical approach and templates on the modus operandi in the management, administration and control of the COVID pandemic in Nigeria”.
“We are aghast to pass a vote of no confidence to the Presidential Taskforce Committee based on the multi-level discrepancies and complicity in the management of the entire COVID 19 breakout in the past few weeks ever since the first index case of COVID 19 in the month of March till date.”
“Our citizens are fed like caged pigs with ridiculous crumbs and spoilt waste rice from the abandoned trash bins of the Nigerian Customs Services and other unrealistic food silos.”
“We are further disappointed with the growing daily lies camouflaged against the masses, and as well decried the provoking stringent standards process adopted by the Federal Government to determining vulnerable poor Nigerians in the payment of the N5,000.00 (Five Thousand Naira) relief palliative, that they must have less than same N5,000 balance in their bank account, with an average recharging airtime of N100.00 on their phone both to be confirmed by the CBN and NCC.”
“We call for the immediate review and complete overhauling of the Presidential Taskforce Committee to now be efficiently and jointly managed by the President and Vice President; as Chairman and Vice respectively.” the statement read in part.
