The newly elected Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr. Godwin Oghre, has said that the chapel will attain enviable heights under him.

Oghre spoke exclusively to Oasis Magazine (OM) after hosting the first congress of the chapel at the Press Centre in Sapele yesterday, April 16, 2020.

He added: “With me at the helm of affairs, you can expect the best because I am the best and I will give my best.

“During my campaign I made my vision known. After I won my election, we have kept this office lively and it will be running continuously daily. A staff has been employed to run the place. I have lots of plans which we will start to roll off as soon as possible.”

While promising to carry everyone along, he said: “Those who know me know I believe in right activism, adding that “no one will be treated with bias and disdain.”

To journalists in the area, he said: “Journalism is not a joke. You do not need to demean yourself in the public. Dress well, speak well and write well. Many do not even know your degree but they call you a journalist based on how you comport yourself. You do not need to write rubbish. Present yourself properly and stick to the etiquettes; before long you will excel.”

The said Chapel covers Ethiope East, Ethiope West, part of Uvwie, Okpe, Sapele and Warri North Local Government Areas.
