FUPRE: UPU Youthwing Congratulates New VC

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has congratulated Professor Akpofure Rim-Rukeh on his appointment as the 4th substantive Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State.
In a statement made available to journalists, Comrade Umukoro said that the appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari is a square peg in a square hole, adding that the news did not come to Urhobo youths as a surprise.
He said: “I am confident that Prof. Rim-Rukeh would deploy his wealth of experience in lifting the fortunes of the great citadel of learning, describing his emergence as another great milestone in the history of the university.”
He continued: “This is a well-deserved appointment, as your wealth of experience and commendable engagement within and outside the university community has prepared you for this enormous responsibility.”
“Your elevation to VC in FUPRE is a testament of your capacity, uprightness and commitment to service and on behalf of Urhobo youths worldwide, I congratulate you and wish you God’s guidance in office as you pilot the affairs of the institution,” the statement added.
Umukoro assured that Urhobo youths would continue to collaborate with the university in moving the institution to enviable heights, adding that he will mobilize Urhobo youths to contribute their quota towards the success of the new administration.
The new VC hails from Ovu community in Agbon Kingdom in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
Until his appointment, Prof. Rim-Rukeh was a professor in the faculty of Environmental Studies at the institution.
