Okowa’s Aide Counters Journalist Over Claims That Delta State Government House Was Robbed
By Daniel Dafe
The Executive Assistant on Communications to the Delta State Governor, Barr. Fred Latimore, has said that the report by Secret Reporters that said Delta State Government’s House was robbed recently is untrue.
The said report revealed that “suspected men of the underworld had allegedly overran the Delta State Government house in Asaba while the Governor slept and held his family captive in the guest room,” an exclusive report the media house said the information was obtained from “a brief by government officials privy to the robbery.”
According to the report, the robbery occurred on the 28th of May, 2020 and the robbers gained access to the government house without resistance through a window of one of the guest rooms.
According to the report, “28th May 2020 will forever remain a bad memory in the heart of Delta State Governor, Mr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, as a moment he fell short of security glory, for right under his reign, the numerous security details spread all over the State Government House were broken down without resistance and traced by men of the underground world.
“While Okowa slept that night and security men patroled the Dennis Osadebey house where destinies of men are decided, armed robbers which other sources claimed to be hired assassins were having a field day with the Governor’s family under lock in the guest house section.
“According to insiders within the government house, the heavily armed men did not break through the wall of government house to gain entrance to the place but were able to access the guest house section by breaking through the window where they had a field day.
“With this robbery right inside government house, some security experts who confided in us blamed it on the new Chief Security Officer, Mr Efeizomor, who is clannish by removing competence for tribalism, posting out security officials and bringing in mainly Delta North officers to work with him.
“We gathered that he is not liked by those working with him and daily pray for his removal by the Governor, who does not have the courage to do so, as they are both from the same Ika clan and the CSO a son to the King. “SecretReporters has gathered that Gov. Okowa has spent so much money on security in the State, yet the most secured place in the state was brazenly robbed at night. He will be the first Governor in Delta State history to preside when armed robbers invaded the government house.
“Government House officials have been ordered to keep the robbery top secret.”
But, in a swift reaction, Latimore debunked the publication, describing it as “a figment of the imagination of the writer and the online news medium.”
He noted that “the online medium is well known for its blackmail in exchange for money editorial policy, describing it as a cancerous fake news platform inspired from the pit of hell.”
Okowa’s EA Communications urged internal and external publics of government to ignore the fake news, adding that Delta State Government Guest Houses remained properly secured and safe for the first family and guests.
“It is common knowledge that Fejiro Oliver and SecretReporters adopted blackmail, propaganda and sensationalism as major operational pillars, a deliberate scamming techniques of extracting monies from targeted wealthy Nigerians and governments.
“Since the commencement of this administration, the notorious medium and its unreliable, greedy, shameless and radical publisher survived via multifaceted unscrupulous arrangements.
“Delta State Government Guest Houses are safe and well protected with modern security gadgets, and operatives are positioned in strategic locations to ensure that hoodlums and criminals do not come an inch close to any of the facilities.
“Let me emphasize again and again that no robbery attacks took place at any of the Government Guest Houses on 28th May, 2020, as criminally put out by the said online medium.
“The major reason the publisher announced his exit from Okowa administration as a friend of government barely 24 hours ago, is to enable him craft and publish fake news against the governor and government in exchange for money and other unmerited favour,” Oghenesivbe said.
At the time of filing this report, Oliver on his Facebook page vowed to make the evidence of the robbery incidence public if the government of the day continues to deny that the robbery occured.
