Uzum Calls For Synergy In The Fight Against Coronavirus
By Johnson Ebigide
Director-General of the Delta State Orientation Bureau, Eugene Azuka Uzum Esq, has reiterated the need for a stronger synergy between the state government and the private sector in the fight against Coronavirus.
Uzum stated this while addressing some journalists in Asaba.
He said that some banks operating in the state had not encouraged the social distancing principle, adding that a situation where there could be more than six ATM machines in the premises of a bank, but only one machine dispensing cash owing to lack of cash in the other machines, would encourage customers to disregard the social distancing principle.
He decried the uncooperative attitude of some public transporters who had been flouting the order on the number of persons a bus or tricycle could carry at a time, just as he lamented the flagrant disregard of the social distancing principle by some churches and mosques during worship services in the state.
Uzum enjoined operators of restaurants to abide strictly to the directive of buy-and-take-away of the state government, just as he emphasized the need for residents to embrace personal hygiene by washing their hands constantly with soap under running water and ensuring adherence to other medically prescribed measures against contracting the Coronavirus.
The orientation helmsman stated that it had been observed that some residents had been disregarding the dusk to dawn curfew put in place by the state government to further checkmate the spread of the virus in the state, adding that every effort of the state government in the fight against Coronavirus was geared towards saving lives of residents in the state.
Uzum implored residents, corporate organisations and religious bodies to complement the determination of the state government to stem the tide of Coronavirus in the state by complying with measures on ground to stamp out the virus.
