Majemite To Ethiope East Residents: COVID-19 Is Real, Observe NCDC Guidelines

Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief (Mrs.) Faith Majemite, yesterday, asked residents of the council not to treat COVID-19 with kid gloves.
Majemite, who made the call during a telephone interview, noted that Coronavirus is real and should be given all the seriousness it deserves.
She said : “We have officially recorded an index case of Coronavirus in Abraka. So, for those of you who are still doubting the authenticity of COVID-19, doubt no more because we have an index case.
“However, there is no cause for alarm because we are on top of the situation. We have started contact tracing to ensure that all those that had contact with him are isolated for the given period of time.”
The council boss urged them to observe the social distancing practice, washing of hands with soap and water as well as the use of alcohol based hand sanitizers at all times.
“The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) gave us guidelines to contain the spread of the virus. They are social distancing, washing hands with soap and water, wearing of face/nose mask We should at all times observe these guidelines.”
She, therefore, called on residents of the council to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as anyone, irrespective of status, could contract the virus.
Recall that Abraka, host community of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, last week Friday, recorded three additional cases.
