Hon.Onofekohwo Joyce Overah started his political career as Education Secretary, LEA to Sapele L.G.A, between 2001 to 2006, during which he was reputed to have employed over three hundred persons. Like the saying that our achievements precedes us, Hon. Joyce Overah was awarded the best Education Secretary in Delta State in 2004, for his devotion and diligence in discharge of his duties, which apparently paved the way for him to be elected as President of Education Secretary of Local Government Areas in Delta State.
In 2007, Hon. Joyce Overah was elected as the Hon. member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constitueny at the National Assembly. As a member of the Federal House of Representatives, he facilitated the construction of Igbeku road in Amukpe Sapele, Construction of Overah road in Gana Sapele and as well as Ugborhen road in Ugborhen community. As an Hon. member he is reputed to have brought the House Committee members on Marine Transport to Sapele seaport for inspection, following his motion for the reopening of the Sapele seaport. Hon. Overah also built many town hall during his tenure in office.
Following his tremendous achievements and contributions to the development of Delta State and Sapele Local Government Area in particular, Hon. Joyce Overah was appointed as the Commissioner for Science and Technology in 2015, where he served till 2018.
Again in 2018, Hon. Joyce Overah was appointed as the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government Affairs.

Until his death, he was the Hon. Commissioner representing Sapele, Ethiope West and Okpe local government areas in the Board of Desopadec.

Rest in peace sir; Delta State has lost a rare gem.
