The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso (JP), OON,Abe 1, has banned Uvwie chiefs from issuing any policy statement affecting the kingdom without approval.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the traditional ruler and made available to newsmen at the palace of the Ovie, in Effurun on 9th June, 2020.
The statement specifically referred to a DRTV press announcement by the Unuevworo R ‘ Etche Oriokpor on June 8th, 2020 on the composition of the youth body and qualifications for candidates aspiring to some positions in future.
While appreciating the concern of the said Unuevworo which he said could usher peace in Ekpan and Uvwie Kingdom, the statement however noted that there was a constitution guiding such actions.
“However, if there are areas to be amended, this must be done and approved by HRM before implementation,” the statement noted.
The statement therefore banned any honorary or traditional chief appearing on television on any social media to make policy statement that affects Uvwie Kingdom without the approval of the Ovie.
The statement further warned that any honorary or traditional chief who appears on television or social media shabily and behave irresponsibly would be sanctioned.
