100 Most Influential Young Deltans: Umukoro Dedicates Award To Human Rights Activists

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, at the weekend was honoured as one of the 100 most influential young Deltans, as the youth leader dedicated the award to all sincere human rights activist.
Speaking to journalists, Comrade Umukoro who could not hide his excitement, disclosed that he was 14th on the said list, adding: “I have received many international, national and local awards, but this is very special to me because it is coming from a Delta-based brand with very high reputation.”
He continued: “This award is a great encouragement to me and I promise to continue to do my best to defend, advocate and continue to speak for the oppressed in the society.
“Appreciation is an application for more and so I shall keep the fire burning. My passion has been increased. The best is yet to come.”
He thanked all that nominated and voted for him to be honored with the prestigious award.
Umukoro also commemded Hon Benjamin Sharta, SSA to the Deputy Senate President, Sen Ovie Omo-Agege on Niger Delta Affairs for his moral support and solidarity .
To the organizers of the event, Mayorking Brand, he thanked the group for finding him worthy in character to be given the award.
Speaking further, he said that human rights activists pay unquantifiable prices for the sake of the welfare of others.
“They don’t spend enough time with their families and fight for the masses. Sometimes you get brutalised by the oppressors. You endanger your lives just to get justice for the oppressed. This award belongs to them all. Keep pushing, speaking and defending human rights without fear or favour,” he stated.
