Abuja Caucus Meeting: Delta APC Does Not Belong To Any Individual—Okpako

-Urges SWC Members To Disregard Notice Of Invitation

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State,
Felix Ogbotor Okpako, has called on members of the State Working Committee (SWC) not to attend the caucus meeting scheduled to hold in Abuja at the residence of the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege.

In a press release seen by this medium, Okpako, who wrote in the capacity of the Publicity Secretary, APC, Delta, hinted that the said meeting was “convened by the ousted State Chairman, Mr. Jones Ode Erue, at the Abuja residence of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate.”

He added: “We are also sounding it loud and clear, that the party is not any man’s personal property, neither does it belong to any individual. If we are calling any state caucus meeting, it will be at the APC State Secretariat in Asaba, or a public venue, not at the private residence of any self acclaimed leader of the party.”

According to him, “there is no state caucus meeting fixed or to be held by the leadership of the party at the Abuja residence of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege,” adding that “any state caucus meeting to be held or called, will always be communicated to concerned SWC members and to all Statutory members of the State Caucus, through the party state secretary Comr. Okonji Chidi, at the mandate of the Acting State Chairman Engr. Elvis Ayomanor.”

He continued: “We reiterate that the party constitution is supreme and must be adhered to at all times, without fear or favour. You all will recall that in February this year, Mr. Jones Ode Erue, was constitutionally removed by a two third majority of the elected state executive committee members, for maladministration, misappropriation of party funds and diversion of party properties. Thus, no single individual has the powers to reinstate him as the state chairman.”

He therefore called on all party leaders who are statutory members of the state caucus and the concerned SWC caucus members to disregard and ignore such meetings called by Mr Jones Erue, adding that Engr Elvis Ayomanor remains the State Acting Chairman who can mandate the State Secretary to issue out circulars for meetings.”
