By Magnus Emuji
Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has said that the idea behind the establishment and rehabilitation of model schools in the state is aimed at upscaling standards of education and make schools more conducive for learning as it is in Unity Colleges across the country.
Mr. Ukah stated this during his inspection visit to model schools in Ughelli South, Ughelli North and Warri South Local Government Areas to ascertain the level of work on those undergoing rehabilitation as well evaluate the facilities in the model schools.
He said that the Okowa administration’s commitment to the education sector, especially priority to the model schools, is designed as a key strategic measure to enable Delta schools compete favourably with International standards, adding that the reconstruction work in some of the schools that needed to be revamped followed an early assessment of the conditions of the schools.
