Amukpe District Installs New Eldest Man For 14 Villages

Amukpe District in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, was agog as the community’s new eldest man, Pa Andrew Iboyi Olokpa, was installed in a funfair ceremony which attracted the who and who in the society.

The Duke of Amukpe District, Okakuro Peter Asagba who performed the installation ceremony at the Amukpe community town hall said, ” we the people of the 14 villages in Amukpe District are very happy to have you as our most senor man. God has first of all chosen you to be our father, therefore we must be loyal and corporate with your administration. ”

He added, “Pa Andrew Iboyi Olokpa is not only the most senior man of Okuo-Elanemu village, but the most senior man of the entire Amukpe District. Before now, I was paying the most senior woman of Amukpe five thousand naira monthly. As from this moment, I will pay the most senior man of the entire District ten thousand naira monthly equally.”

The Duke appealed to Pa Olokpa to pray for them the leaders of the community so that they could leave long and as well have the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the land better while also enjoining the people to extend their cooperation and loyalty to the newly installed most senior man so that his reign will be successful.

The President of Ovwore Community, Bishop Elijah Ajerah, expressed his profound appreciation to the Duke of Amukpe District, Chief Peter Asagba, including the president, Chiefs and other leaders of the community for their individual and collective roles in making the event a success.

He explained that he was particularly happy for the cooperation of the entire Amukpe people in ensuring that their father from the Ovwore axis is installed at last and that Ovwore is part and parcel of Amukpe District, pledging that they will work together to move the community forward.

Other leaders of the community who spoke to journalists during the event, Comrade Sunday Asini, Mr Sunday Douglas, Mr Emmanuel Atika, Hon Samuel Ifude, Deacon Believe Edeki and Comrade S E Okutele an Ex-president of Amukpe community, expressed their confidence in the ability of Pa Olokpa to lead the entire people of Amukpe District peacefully and very successful.

Hon Ifude and Mr Atika agreed that with Pa Olokpa’s vast experience in community affairs over the years from when he was very young, they have no doubt in mind as to his ability to perform with him still filled with much energy even at his ripe old age.

On his part, Hon Chief Goddey Okpako, the immediate past President of Amukpe District, who was very elated at the development, said Pa Olokpa is a unifying factor who will use is experience to bear in bringing the community together in one accord for rapid development.

For Sir D Y Ogbimi (jp) the most senior man of Okuovori village and the next in command to the most senior man, Mr Alfred Akpojotor, senior son inlaw to Pa Olokpa, Mr Harrison Olokpa and Pastor Jackson Andrew Olokpa, the senior son of Pa Olokpa, said they were so happy that such a thing is happening in their time to their very own.

The people appealed to the entire residents in the communities to support the senior man in what ever capacity they can, to make his leadership eventful and to enable him leave longer for all of them.

The Secretary of Amukpe District, Comrade Harrison Okpako Ekeleme, who is also the National President of Okpe Youth Council Worldwide, added that it is a thing of joy for the entire 14 villages that a new senior man has been installed after the demise of Okakuro London Omoraka who was their leader.

The Sapele Local Government PDP scribe maintained that the new elderly man is knowledgeable, stronger, easily recognise people, prays effective prayers, truthful, and tactful, pointing out that they are happy more importantly since he is from Ovwore axis of Amukpe community just as he called on all to be peacefully, and to love one another so that they can move faster as a community.

Comrade Ekeleme also prayed for long life to His Royal Majesty, Orhue 1, the Orodje of Okpe kingdom. Major General Felix Mujakperuo retd on his untiring role in ensuring unity amongst Okpe people at large .
