Okorodudu Visits Orodje Of Okpe, Seeks Support For Development

The Executive Director of Project (EDP) in the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu has called for the support of traditional rulers in Delta State in spreading development across the oil-bearing communities.

Okorodudu made the call on Friday when he led a delegation of top management staff from DESOPADEC on a familiarization visit to the Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, and the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj. General Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), Orhue I, at his Royal Palace in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area.

He said, “Your Majesty, I have come to wish you double congratulations. First, on the emergence of your son as the Governor of Delta State. Secondly, on the emergence of another son as the Executive Director of Projects in the Board of DESOPADEC.”

“As a major stakeholder in the development of our communities, I have also come to inform you that I have started working. From next week, we shall embark on a tour of DESOPADEC projects in our communities. We shall be looking at the ongoing projects, projects that have been abandoned, to see how they can be re-awarded and initiate new ones.”

“I will not rest until we deliver on the MORE Agenda Mandate given by the Executive Governor of Delta State. Hence, I have come to seek your support, input, and ideas on how we can impact the well-being of the people of the oil-producing communities,” he said.

The EDP, therefore, pledged to work with Chairman, Managing Director and other Board Members in ensuring that the needed infrastructure and socio-economic development gets to people at the grassroots.

Responding, Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, and the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Maj. General Felix Mujakperuo (rtd), Orhue I, commended the EDP of DESOPADEC, Chief Ebenezer Okorodudu, on his appointment, saying, “The Governor appointed the right person for the job. You are a square peg in a square hole.”

The monarch also said, “I know you will do well given your track record in your previous appointments. I want you to cooperate with the members of the Board and work in tandem with other Directors.”

He advised the EDP to execute projects that will add value to the lives of the people and avoid cases of duplication of projects, stating that it was necessary to consult the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and local governments before embarking on projects in their respective territories.
