NAPPS Delta: Founding President Urges Members To Prioritise Secretariat Project
The pioneer President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Delta State Chapter, Bishop Dr Felix C. O. Mikpoyibo, has urged members of the association to prioritise the development of its proposed secretariat complex, calling for immediate contributions to ensure the project is completed within a short period.
Mikpoyibo made the call during the groundbreaking ceremony for the proposed NAPPS Delta State Secretariat Complex and Multipurpose Auditorium, where he expressed gratitude to God for the association’s progress in securing land for the project.
He recalled that his efforts to establish a permanent secretariat for the association dated back to 2013, when he moved a motion urging members to save money towards acquiring land.
According to him, the proposal did not receive the necessary support at the time, prompting him to offer five plots of his personal land at Obiaruku to the association.
He said members considered the location too far away and did not accept the offer, even after he suggested that the plots could be sold and the proceeds used to acquire land elsewhere. He subsequently withdrew the offer.
Mikpoyibo, however, expressed joy that the association had eventually secured land for the secretariat, describing the development as a significant achievement.
He urged the current state executive to commence construction immediately and ensure that funds accruing to the association were channelled towards the project before embarking on other initiatives.
“I want to say thank you because all that I have been praying for since 2013 has come to pass. Today, God has given us a place,” he said.
The former president called on NAPPS members across Delta State to support the project financially and through other contributions, stressing that collective commitment was necessary to ensure its timely completion.
He urged members to set aside competing priorities and make the secretariat project a collective responsibility, expressing confidence that the facility could be completed within a short time if members worked together.
Mikpoyibo also described the acquisition of the land as a remarkable development and encouraged members to contribute in whatever way they could to bring the project to fruition.
Identifying himself as the first president of NAPPS in Delta State, he recalled that he led a delegation outside the state to attend the association’s national convention, an effort he said helped establish NAPPS in Delta State.
He expressed appreciation to members and other stakeholders for their contributions to the association’s growth, while urging them to sustain the spirit of unity and commitment needed to complete the proposed secretariat complex.
