Idjerhe Kingdom Gets New King

History was made today as the good people of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State gathered in large numbers to celebrate their King , HRM, Monday Obukowho Whiskey as he received his staff of office as the king of Idjerhe Kingdom.
Presenting the staff of office to the new monarch, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, urged the king to carry his subjects along and run an all-inclusive administration as the Royal Father of the land.
The Deputy Governor while congratulating the monarch, added that history is made today as the people of Idjerhe Kingdom will experience a new dawn of a new beginning in the traditional administration of Idjerhe Kingdom.
He reassured the state government’s support and commitment under the leadership of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa towards moving Idjerhe Kingdom forward.
The Delta State Deputy Governor then urged Idjerhe youths to shun cultism and other social vices.
On his part, the new King of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, The Udurhie 1 of Idjerhe Kingdom while briefing journalists at his palace shortly after the ceremony, said that he will run an open door policy and consult the people on issues that will move the kingdom forward.

The monarch noted that in few months time, he will call for a conference of all Idjerhe sons and daughters with five representatives from each community in the kingdom, aimed at discussing issues that will bring growth and development to Idjerhe Kingdom especially to send signals to any Idjerhe youth who is involved in cultism.
HRM Monday Whiskey while speaking asserted that his administration will ensure that investors are attracted to the kingdom and Idjerhe will be among the scheme of affairs in Nigeria.
As a journalist by profession, King Monday Whiskey said that journalism is his primary constituency and as such ,there is an open door for the Nigeria Union of Journalists , NUJ, Delta State Chapter and other media practitioners in the country.
He added that his administration will have a good synergy with the media.
The auspicious occasion was well attended by dignitaries within and outside Idjerhe Kingdom.
Among whom were: The Delta State PDP Chairman, Olorogun Barr. Kingsley Esiso, Former member of the Federal House of Representative, Rt. Hon. Halims Agoda, Executive Director, Finance and Administration in the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief John Nani, the Unugbrogodos of Boboroku, Oyonobru and Jesse Central Oguedions, other traditional rulers led by HRM, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Chiefs from Idjerhe and other kingdoms, members of the NUJ Delta State Council led by the Chairman, Comrade Mike Ikeogwu, sons and daughters of Idjerhe Kingdom including the Bishop of MCs, Prince Igbayo among others.
Highlight of the ceremony was the official presentation of the staff of office to HRM, Udurhie 1, Monday Obukowho Whiskey by the Deputy Governor of Delta State Dcn. Barr. Kingsley Otuaro.
Guests were later treated to both Africa and continental dishes at a warm reception held at the palace of the new Idjerhe Monarch, in Jesse the traditional adminstrative Headquarters of Idjerhe Kingdom.
The new Idjerhe Monarch until his enthronement was a Senior Journalist and a former South-South Editor of the National Daily Newspaper.
