IPOB: Oyigbo Resident Writes Open Letter To Gov Wike, Appeals For Review Of 24-Hour Curfew

LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY: GOVERNOR EZENWO NYESOM WIKE OF RIVERS STATE. RE: ENDSARS PROTEST AND NON-REVIEW OF THE 24HOURS DUSK-TILL- DAWN CURFEW

Your Excellency, l write on behalf of my family and all residents of Oyigbo LGA. Please tender justice with mercy and lift this DUSK TILL DAWN curfew imposed on us.

You are our father and we are your children. Would you watch us all die? This Dusk Till Dawn curfew is killing us. We are gradually turning to vegetables. This is too hard on us. Don’t forget that, not all Oyigbo residents are guilty of the offenses we heard were committed. And l know it’s difficult to separate the sheep from the wolves.. Its been over a week now we have been locked down. No movement. No food. No Money. No market. No shops are opened. No medical centres are opened. Pregnant women can’t go for their check ups and ante-natal.. No power(Light) No movement. This is killing us. The family of those who had died this period can’t even buried their deads. People who work in town are losing their jobs. This is too much to bear your Excellency.

I have not experienced war before now but from the stories my mother had told me.- This is war in disguise.. We know sincerely what we heard the hoodlums did to warrant this punishment is unimaginably wicked and heartless.. But then, the innocent are suffering. This is no longer suffering and smiling that we are used to as a citizen of Nigeria.

Here, we are suffering and depreciating into vegetables..On the other hand, the shootings by the military men deployed to our environment is killing us before the flying bullets even get to us. The sounds of the every minutes shootings is making us to lose our mental balance and health. Our children are at home asking us: mother what is going on? Are we all going to die? Has the world come to an end? What do we tell them your Excellency. How will they understand when we don’t even understand. They are engulfed with fears. The shootings have murdered their innocent sleeps. This is heart-breaking. Our blood pressure had gone so high.. we are gradually losing it.. we don’t even have food in the house anymore..The little we had have dried off. Where do we go from here?

Your Excellency, 95 percent of Oyigbo residents are ARTISANS. This is too much to bear. Please free us from this captivity and bondage. Lift this curfew, let us keep struggling, suffering and smiling once again as we have been made to get used to.
