Ogboru’s Fiogret Limited Not Owing AMCON –Director
By Daniel Dafe, Delta
Fiogret Limited owned by Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has countered reports by media houses that said AMCON was taking steps to recover the N784 Million debt owned by the company.
In a statement signed by Victor Agberien, Director, Fiogret Limited, the management described the report as misleading.
The statement said: “It has come to our attention that on the 23rd of November, 2020 two misleading articles titled “AMCON seeks to recover N784m debt from Ogboru” and “Court rules in AMCON’s suit against Ogboru” were published in The Nation and The Punch newspapers respectively.”

According to the statement, “the N784m in question has been completely offset vide payments from Fiogret Limited directly to AMCON amounting to N457m and the N350m irrevocable Sovereign Guarantee issued to the corporation by the Federal Government of Nigeria on behalf of Fiogret Limited.”
Fiogret wondered why AMCON, a creation of the Federal Government of Nigeria, would not accept a guarantee from its principal.
“It is this subject matter that is the cause of action in suit number CA/A/108/2019 presently at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
“Most certainly AMCON is either being misled by their lawyer, Kunle Ogunba (SAN) or Kunle Ogunba (SAN) in his usual strange manner, is trying to surreptitiously obtain an illegal court order against the company. This was the same wonky strategy he employed in 2013 with an attempt to put the company under illegal receivership. We are yet to uncover the real motives of Kunle Ogunba (SAN).
“So it is clear that these misleading publications were done to ensure that their calculated and ill motivated agenda of witch-hunting is sustained. In all of this Fiogret Limited remains unshaken and is unshakeable,” the statement added.
Also, Fiogret warned that if the reports are not retracted immediately, they will not hesitate to seek redress in court.
