Trump Threatens To Head To Supreme Court Over Election Results
President Donald Trump says he is considering heading to the Supreme Court of the United States as he described ongoing presidential vote counting as a “fraud on the American people”.
He stated this in a press conference from the East Room of the White House Wednesday morning.
Trump, the Republican Party candidate, said he would be heading to the Supreme Court to demand that all vote counting be stopped immediately, as some results are not expected until Friday.
His main challenger, Joe Biden of the Democratic Party, had hours earlier stated that ‘it ain’t over till every vote is counted’.
Speaking from Wilmington, Delaware, Biden urged the American people to be patient, noting that he was on course to claim victory.
Trump tweeted minutes later to counter the assertion and assert that he was winning “BIG”.
BREAKING: Donald Trump Leads In 13 States With 89 Electoral Votes In US Election
He accused the Democratic Party of attempting to ” STEAL” the election.
“Votes cannot be cast after the (polls) are closed!” the president declared, adding that he would make a statement shortly.
With Trump on 213 electoral college votes and Joe Biden on 224, and seven battleground states too close to call, the election was poised delicately just after midnight.
Daily Mail reported that Biden’s failure to land a knockout blow by taking Florida, Ohio or Texas means that the race comes down to Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin – the ‘blue wall’ which Hillary Clinton lost in 2016.
But it will take days to determine the results from those states, setting the scene for a battle which was headed to the courts.
