Delta Council Elections: Ethiope East APC Chairmanship Aspirant, Etaghene Fumes, As Returning Officer Declares Primaries Inconclusive

By Daniel Dafe
The Returning Officer of the APC Chairmanship primaries for Ethiope East, Delta State, Imonina Sylvester, who is also the state PRO of the party has declared the election inconclusive.
This was disclosed in a press statement on Wednesday by one of the aspirants, Ejiro Etaghene Esq.
Etaghene in his statement added: “He is a lawyer and he knows that the DSS, DSIEC and police were present when he made the declaration. I have obtained a copy of the police report to that effect. Any result not declared at the collation centre Isiokolo is null and void. And I mean it.”
According to him, for two months now he has been studying the DSIEC Law and he is very conversant with its provisions.

Adding: “I have seen some persons jubilating and parading fake results in the social media. They want to make things difficult for the APC in Ethiope East. As far as I am concerned, no candidate can emerge in an election that was declared inconclusive.”
He continued: “I know my learned friend, Mr. Imonina knows the implication of declaring an aspirant a winner in an inconclusive election. As a democrat, I will do the needful by registering my grievance in the appropriate quarter. As a lawyer Mr. Imonina knows that we have code of conduct for lawyers. A lawyer must observe the rule of law and fairness.”
Etaghene called on all his supporters to remain calm and unperturbed no matter the provocation.
He said: “We have made history by swimming against the tide. We have seen that our people have no regard for party loyalty and dedication. I have laboured so hard to serve my party over the years. I have received insult, blackmail, deprivations and I almost lost my life in the last congress.
“This election has taught me a lesson. Our people are very funny people. They must be converted to true democrats. I have a story to tell.
“I must confess that I have put up a good fight and I thank all those who stood by me. The party leadership at the state must tread softly by looking into the issues I have raised and will raise tomorrow when I shall make a detailed press statement.
“I love this political experience which I have yearned for over the years. It’s so amazing.”
Meanwhile results published on the social media by some APC members said: “Today’s APC chairmanship primaries in Ethiope East. Hon Voke Ighorodje = 15,124
Barr Ejiro Etaghene = 527
Voke Ighorodje Won.”
