Land Dispute: Ebireri Family Appeals To Gov Okowa To Come To Their Aide

The family of Late Pa Ebireri of Okuode Community of Idjerhe in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, has cried to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and the Commissioner for Land and Survey to look into the issue surrounding their father’s land at Okuode which the Idjerhe Central Oguedion are presently dragging with the Ebireri family.

Our correspondent gathered that the said land which is located at Okuode village -Jesse, was in 1977 concession to Mr. Isaac Oritseminone Oghomienor with the aim to use the land for maize plantation to feed the starch and glucose factory in the then Bendel State.

Newsmen also gathered that on March 24, 2019, the Idjerhe Central Oguedion took the Ebireri family to the Area Customary court in Oghara.

At the hearing of the case, the Oguedion failed to prove the ownership.

On October 6, 2020, the court then struck out the case for inability of the Oguedion to provide logical and empirical evidence.

The Ebireri family while calling on the Chairman of Ethiope West, as the Chief Security Officer in the local government as a mater of urgency, again appealed to Governor Okowa to step into the issue before it will degenerate to destruction of lives and prosperity.

The land which was released to Mr. Isaac according to the Ebireri family for development, has been turned to a “money making venture” for the chiefs at the Idjerhe Central Oguedion.
