VIDEO: NANS Election Ground Turns To War Zone In Abuja

From insights just gathered, heavy gunshots on Thursday, December 3, rocked the venue of the National Convention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
NANS, the umbrella body of tertiary institution students in Nigeria, is learnt to be currently holding a convention to elect new set of national leaders.
Not less than 20 students reportedly sustained wounds from machete and gunshots fired by suspected thugs loyal to a factional coordinator of the association in Zone D (Southwest).

An anonymous witness disclosed: “They have stopped accreditation already, you know we have factions in Zone D. If you see the boys one of the coordinators brought to the convention ground, even the DSS ran away.”
Meanwhile, another source said gun shots were fired by security operatives in order to return normalcy to the election venue.
An online news source added: “Seems the hope of Nigeria having a free and free election is quite weak as the supposed leaders of tomorrow are falling to compose themselves dutifully with the leadership challenges they find themselves.
“There was chaos due to the verification and authenticity of some senators (Student union government’s president) which led to a shouting match and chaos, and in the video obtained by Naijacrawl, gun shot were being fired in order to control the atmosphere.
“We urge the students’ leadership to act as democratically on the course of the election.”
