By Oasis Magazine
Ethiope East Core PDP women, a political pressure group, recently, in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary on behalf of the group, Madam Rachel Itete, commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, PDP State Chairman, Barr Kingsley Esiso, and the leaders of PDP in Ethiope East led by Chief Bernard Edewor for creating a platform that encourages women inclusion in contest for elective positions.

The statement reads, “We thank His Excellency the Executive Governor of Delta Sate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, the State Chairman of our great party, Olorogun Barr Kingsley Esiso, Ethiope East leaders led by Chief Bernard Edewor for giving a sense of belonging to the women of PDP in Ethiope East at all times.

Since Governor Okowa came to power, he has so much encouraged women participation in politics which shows how much he appreciates the political strength of women. In preparatory to January 6 2018 general election, the People’s Democratic Party zoned at least three positions to the women in all local government. This move has really encouraged our women participation in contest for elective position, which was highly appreciated by all women.

“Again, the just concluded PDP primary has produced three (3) female candidates for the contest in Ethiope East. This is a welcome development even as we expect the numbers of women participation to increase in future elections.

“We also condemn a recent attack on one of our female candidate by one Hon Enoho Owhojegheri, aka Emine-cee. It’s shocking to know that despite the effort of our leaders to move our great Party forward, greedy men with desperate effort are there misleading the public.

“Hon Eloho Owhojegheri who is contesting in Ward 15 Eku Urban, but, could not hide his hate for women when he chose to direct his attack to our female candidate for Ward 16, Miss Ejovwoke Ukueku, with lies and blackmail.

“Owhojegheri who posed himself as founder and semi owner of PDP should know a political party is run in line with party constitution and not a family business of any individual. Party members are not only those who come to his bedroom to pay loyalty.

“Hon Enoho Owhojegheri who is to be called a product of imposition, after he lost his primary election to Hon Edesiri Aganbi and was imposed on the people of DSIEC ward 15 in the last DSIEC election, against the popular candidature of Hon Aganbi, has been quoted on facebook, and some online news medium, accusing the leadership of the party of imposition.

“Hon Owhojegheri, who has always benefited from the party since he joined the party should be grateful to the PDP family who has allowed him to serve as a Ward Chairman for about 8 years, Secretary to the motor pack for many years, Chairman of Revenue Ethiope East for about 8years, member of delifferent committees, and Councilor ward 15, even when he could not win the primary election.

“If he Eloho Owhojegheri can remember the history of PDP very well but cannot remember Ejovwoke grandfather, Chief Ogorugba Emetitiri as a founding leader of the party, it shows how much he hates a woman to handle an elective office.

“We as a group after careful investigations and our members who voted in her unit, have testified to her seriousness in the party affairs and her effort to see the PDP win elections in previous elections.

“Miss Ejovwoke Ukueku has been a dedicated, and card carrying member of PDP which is known to all including Hon Owhojegheri.
In the days of Urhobo Political Forum (UPF) headed by Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori, Miss Ejovwoke Ukueku was an active member of the group.

The grouped call on all well-meaning party faithful to disregard Hon Owhojegheri, his dry propaganda and his native belief that a woman cannot be voted for, saying that such belief is archaic.
