Buhari’s Director Joins Race For Anambra Governorship Seat

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Southeast Presidential Committee Director on Political matters, Hon Maxwell Okoye, is vying for the Anambra governorship seat.
The election is scheduled to hold November 6, 2021.
He declared to contest the election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking with reporters at the weekend at Abagana, Njikoka local government area of Anambra State, Okoye said APC had no zoning arrangement on Anambra poll.
He said if there was such arrangement like zoning, his office would be the first to know, adding the zoning issue should be disregarded as any person could contest for the post.

Okoye maintained that such arrangement was at the national level in APC and not at the State.
Adding that it was introduced in Anambra by former Governor Peter Obi to appease the people of the North Senatorial zone
He said nobody told him to come out to contest, adding the decay in Anambra made him to take the decision.
According to him: “We need change in Anambra State, we need to join the national train.
”I decided to come and rescue my State, that’s why I’m presenting myself to APC. The chances that will make us Governor are higher than the ones that will not make us governor
“I’m a grassroots man and also young to take my party to the promised land. The only thing for us to get it right is to conduct a free and fair primaries
“And with this arrangement, I’m good to pick the governorship ticket of APC and win the election for my party.
“It’s not a do or die affair. If I lose through that means, I will give support to any one that emerges.”
