CDHR: Indefinite Suspension Of National President Stands, NC Virtual Meeting Illegal, Says General Secretary

The National Executive Council of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has said that the indefinite suspension of the president of CDHR, Dr. Osagie Obayuwana,
stands, adding that the purported virtual meeting held by the National Committee that he presided over is illegal.
A statement signed by Comrade James Chibuzo Chikwendu, National General Secretary, CDHR on Sunday on behalf of the National Executive, said: “We wish to notify the general public that Dr. Osagie Obayuwana who was formally the national President of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has been indefinitely suspended from the organisation on the 26th day of January 2021 for sundry disciplinary measures.”
According to the statement, the “National Executive Committee also disclaims the unconstitutional purported virtual NC meeting that was held on the 30th of January, 2021 by the suspended National President, DR. OSAGIE OBAYUWANA.”

Adding that “Any body or CDHR member/BOT member who does any transaction in the name of the organization does so at his/her own risk.”
The statement called on civil society groups, law enforcement agents and the entire public to take note of the development.
