Obaseki Pays January Salaries, Pension

The Edo State Government has paid January salaries and pension to workers and retirees in the state, as the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration reiterates its commitment to workers’ welfare.
In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., said the payment is in line with the Governor’s directive on prompt payment of salaries and pension to civil and public servants as well as retirees from the state civil service.
According to him, “We have paid January salaries and pensions to workers and retirees in the state in line with the commitment of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to meet its statutory obligation to workers and retirees in the state.

“The payment was made despite the challenges posed by the economic setbacks confronting the Nigerian economy and other parts of the world amid the coronavirus pandemic.”
Ogie said the state government will continue to consolidate on several reforms being undertaken in the Edo State Civil and Public Service, including rigorous training programmes, revamp of the work space and deployment of technology to improve efficiency.
