Tidi Pours Encomiums On Newly Crowned Okere-Urhobo Monarch

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Dr Michael Tidi has showered encomiums on HRM Emmanuel Ono Okumagba, Okumagba 11, the Orosuen of Okere Urhobo Kingdom.

Tidi’s commendations were contained in his key note address during the presentation of staff of office to the newly crowned Okere Urhobo monarch by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who was represented by his deputy, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro yesterday.

The number one citizen of Warri South Local Government Area, noted that history was being made as “Our leader, father and peace maker is being presented with a staff of office by the Delta State Government today.”

He added: “Before now, I have worked under his leadership. He is a father who believes in one Delta, one Warri, one Warri South; he does not discriminate.”

The Warri South Local Government Council boss then expressed hope that with the ascension of Okumagba II to the throne of his forefathers, he (Okumagba 11) would work with his administration and Delta State in taking Delta State to the next level.

In a key note address, read by Emmanuel Omovie, a lawyer, on behalf of Okere Urhobo Kingdom, appreciated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over his patronage in terms of roads construction and rehabilitation as well as well appointment of Okere Urhobo indigenes into his administration.

While disclosing that HRM Okumagba II was selected and crowned on November 16, 2020 in accordance with Okere Urhobo chieftaincy laws and customs, he remarked that there had been wide jubilation and acceptance by the Okere Urhobo people since the new Orosuen was crowned.

Omovie who bears the exalted title of Usavwre (traditional key) and also a king maker in Okere Urhobo Kingdom, seized the opportunity to appeal to Governor Okowa to rehabilitate roads that were yet to be rehabilitated in the area.

He expressed hope that when the said roads were rehabilitated, they would open up the area to Warri metropolis.

In his response, the deputy governor assured that the requests of Okere Urhobo would be favourably looked into just as he congratulated HRM Okumagba II on his successful ascension to the throne of his forefathers.

In a chat with newsmen, the Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs Divine Iniovosa, who is also a chief in Okere Urhobo Kingdom, corroborated the encomiums of Dr Tidi on Okumagba II, as she noted that the traditional ruler had positively affected the lives of many.

High point of the event was the presentation of staff of office by the deputy governor to Okumagba II.
