Universities Are Not Political Gifts To A Particular Area; They Are Citadels Of Knowledge For All

A public Institution like a university may impact social lives in its locality but that is all. It is not owned by that locality or community or town or Senatorial District.
If we purged our minds and those of our policy makers of this tendency, then we would consider nobler factors for citing Universities and not duplicate them as if they are trophies of political patronage going into extinction.
If we run a truly sane Government, it would not matter where a University is sited and it would not lead us to focusing on numbers as opposed to quality. How many times have we sat down to audit the needs of the existing Universities with a view to satisfying them?

During a pandemic when existing universities are being starved of funds in the name of austerity, it is only insanity that would drive the establishment of more universities.
Our brain need to be used for what it was made for; thinking and not decoration!
