DELSUTH CMD Flags-Off COVID-19 Vaccination
The Chief Medical Director, CMD, of the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Dr. Onome Ogueh, has flag – off the COVID – 19 vaccination at the University Teaching Hospital with a remark that COVID – 19 is real and people should availed themselves the opportunity and be vaccinated against the dreaded global pandemic.
In a brief remark at the flag – off ceremony, Dr Ogueh, thanked the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr Ononye Mordi, for the prompt and seamless provision of the COVID – 19 vaccine across Delta State.
The CMD explained that the first batch of the COVID – 19 vaccine is for front line health workers and this will continue until the 24th of March, 2021.
Dr Ogueh, maintained that COVID – 19 is real, and front line health workers are at a particular risk of getting the infection.
He confessed that at DELSUTH they have had a total of 57 recorded cases of COVID – 19 infection amongst the staff which cut across all categories of staff, but, insisted that health workers are more at risk with a disproportionate effect on doctors and nurses.
